Thirsty Thursday was instituted by college students who didn't have class on Fridays and could party Thursday nights without worrying about dealing with their education while hungover. It's now migrated to the real world and even has it's own hash tag on Twitter (#ThirstyThursday).

Though I did not come up with the idea, I am not above using it as another excuse to enjoy one of my martinis - I'm admit to blatant opportunism here!
